This is sure to be a staff favourite — particularly iced. 
We’re incredibly happy to be able to purchase from this washing station again this year. Coffee from the Guji Region in Ethiopia has made a name for itself in recent years, but the areas surrounding Guji are quickly catching up (if not surpassing it) with quality offerings that are both complex and refined. 

Two years ago, we purchased a coffee from the Banko Gotiti washing station, located in Gedeb (bordering Guji), and were very surprised by its beautiful classic Yirgacheffe profile of white florals, sweet citrus, juicy stone fruit, and jasmine tea.

Banko Gotiti Cooperative is a small organisation established in 2012 as a separate entity from the much larger (and better known) Worka Cooperative. Since its inception, Banko Gotiti Cooperative has consistently produced exceptional coffees, some of which can be traced down to a single farmer, which is virtually unheard of in Ethiopia. The Co-op is located near the tiny village of Banko Gotiti, in the southern district of Gedeb within the Gedeo Zone, Yirgacheffe region, very near to where coffee is thought to have first been discovered! 

This year’s selection, Gotiti 1, is a beautiful example of everything we like in a washed Ethiopia: floral and citrus aromas greet you, before giving way to a juicy donut peach balanced with bright lemons and sugary gummy candies.  The finish is elegant and tea-like, like a fine black tea.  This is sure to be a staff favourite – particularly iced – throughout the summer.
